Mrs.Melanie Taylor, LCSW-R

Greetings Students, Families, and Community Members

I am Mrs. Taylor and I am the K-5 School Social Worker.

I look forward to working with the students at Frankfort Schuyler Elementary School.  In my role as a School Social Worker and trained mental health professional I can provide support to students, families, and the school staff to address barriers of academic success that may be rooted in social or emotional well being.

School social workers bring a unique skill set to the educational system and the school support team.  Some ways in which social work services are utilized in the school environment include,  providing short term supportive services, referrals to a community resource, acting as a liaison to increase communication between families and the school, and support for families that have a student with mental health concerns.

School social workers can be available for students to work on an abundant number of issues and can help with:

  • Individual and Group Counseling
  • Conflict Resolution and Anger Management
  • Attendance/Truancy
  • School Avoidance Behaviors
  • Crisis Intervention & Suicidal Ideation/Intent
  • Coping Skills/Strategies
  • Grief
  • Anxiety Reduction
  • Social Skills / Peer Interactions and Interpersonal Skill Development
  • Building Empathy
  • Work with the Committee on Special Education and provide individual counseling services for students requiring that service
  • Referrals and Community Linkages
  • Liaison Between Community Resources, School, and Families
  • Protect the Confidentiality of students who utilize Social Work Services

I am available during the school day and located at the elementary school building and can be reached at 315-895-7491.  Please feel free to contact me if you need assistance.
