4/16/18 - Jump Rope for Heart Closing Celebration
On April 16, students at Frankfort-Schuyler Elementary celebrated the success of their 2018 Jump Rope for Heart fundraising efforts with a special competition in PE classes. The students raised $7,500 for the American Heart Association during this year’s month-long Jump Rope for Heart event!
During the closing celebration, the highest fundraisers from each grade level were recognized for their philanthropic efforts by getting to participate in a series of basketball and jump rope themed competition stations. Classmates helped facilitate activities at each station, kept track of scores and made sure everything ran smoothly. The final competition included a knockout hoop shoot challenge with PE teachers Mr. Giambrone and Mrs. Carinci. Students with the top scores and best effort from the Jump Rope for Heart Closing Celebration will receive a special prize during their next PE class.
Jump Rope for Heart and the middle school’s Hoops for Heart program are national education and fundraising programs jointly sponsored by SHAPE America and the American Heart Association. They promote physical education and provide children with knowledge of heart disease and stroke while raising funds for cardiovascular disease research, stroke research, and health education.
