3/12/19 - Jump Rope for Heart
Students at Frankfort-Schuyler Elementary recently celebrated the success of their 2019 Jump Rope for Heart fundraising efforts with some special activities during PE classes. The students raised funds and awareness for the American Heart Association during the month-long Jump Rope for Heart event.
During the closing celebration, students were recognized for their philanthropic efforts by getting to participate in a series of stations that formed a “Ninja Warrior” style obstacle course. As part of the obstacle course, students jumped rope, shot baskets, crawled through tunnels, stacked cups and built towers.
In addition to fundraising through Jump Rope for Heart, Frankfort-Schuyler Elementary helped “Team Nicholas” raise money for the American Heart Association by selling red hearts. Students had the opportunity to purchase a heart in honor or in memory of a loved one affected by heart disease and then the hearts were displayed on the school hallway windows.
Jump Rope for Heart and the middle school’s Hoops for Heart program are national education and fundraising programs jointly sponsored by SHAPE America and the American Heart Association. They promote physical education and provide children with knowledge of heart disease and stroke while raising funds for cardiovascular disease research, stroke research, and health education.
